Situated in the north of the Caribbean Sea, the Bahamas archipelago is nonetheless considered part of the Caribbean. The Bahamas archipelago comprises around 700 islands and islets, the Lucayes islands situated in the Atlantic Ocean. With 60% of the country’s total population, New Providence is the most populous island of the Bahamas. This island is also where the capital of the Bahamas is found: Nassau, which is not only the country’s commercial and cultural center but also your destination departing Paris with Air Caraïbes. Its cathedrals, 18th-century fortresses, and Victorian homes perpetuate the colonial heritage.

The island retains almost all of its colonial heritage and charm, such as, for example, Fort Fincastle, built at the end of the 18th century, which is now entirely given over to tourism. Giant hotel complexes are going to be built across 2.5 square miles of sand, offering numerous activities. Grand Bahama Island is where you will find the most activities, such as upward parachuting and jet skiing, but, with the island’s coral reefs, undersea diving remains the favorite activity.


The Bahamas have two sides, in fact. With New Providence and Grand Bahama Island, the Bahamas present a lively and very touristic face; in contrast, the Out Islands will offer you heavenly, totally private viewpoints.
